Generator General Information

  • 10kw-14kw – Just ‘Essentials’
    • We provide a 16-circuit Generator sub-panel. You get to choose 16 circuits (16 Breakers) to put on the
generator. Only breakers with a 15 or 20 on them.
    • More than enough to handle Heat, refrigerators, well/water, Majority of your Lights and Outlets
    • Can NOT handle any large breakers (30, 40, 50, 60, etc..). No Central A/C, no Ovens, no Clothes
      Dryer, etc..)
    • Simply read the numbers on your breakers, any that have a 30 or larger on them can NOT go on
      this size generator.
    • Budget: $11,000 to $14,000 (+/-) average installation
    • Est $229-$270/month with 25% down

  • 16kw – 18kw Average/Small home “Whole House” with 100 amp service.
    • Not recommended for 200amp services unless you have all gas appliances (Oven, Dryer, Water Heater, etc..)
    • Can handle only 1 – Central A/C unit (3-ton max)
    • If electric appliance, the Generator may need to ‘drop them out’: Oven, Dryer. Need to add cost
for 2-SMMs (APPROX $300 EACH)– Cannot guarantee they will work when on generator power
    • Note: If you have Electric Appliances and Central Air, its often more cost effective and convenient to
simply go with a true ‘Whole House’ unit
    • Budget: $13,000 to $15,000 (+/-) average installation
    • Est $250-$291/month with 25% down

  • “Whole House” 22kw-26kw
      • 8kw minimum needed for typical home “Essentials”:
Heating, lights, outlets, small appliances (fridge, micro, well)
      • Add Large Loads will increase Generator size:
        • A/C (3ton) – 6kw
        • Dryer – 5.4kw
        • Oven – 8kw
        • Electric Water Heater: 4.5watts
          (above are averages – varies)

    • Example: 8kw (base line watts) + 6kw (1A/C) = 14kw (16kw or larger Gen needed)
**Do NOT max out gen, leave extra 1-2kw room or town will not approve
**Generators lose 1-2kw on Natural gas – Only Propane will give full Kw
    • Budget: $14,500 to 17,500 (+/-) average installation
    • Est $281-$322/month with 25% down
