Generator Installation Timeline

This timeline information is provided to give a rough time estimate of how long a generator installtion would take to complete. Obviously, there is a lot of steps to complete, and these types of jobs have a lot of compliance requirements. Depending on the complexity of the job, in the time of the year your job may be completed much more quickly than the timeline outlined below, and in some rare cases the job may take longer.

  • Stage One

    • Job estimates and proposal are provided and approved
    • Engineering will be done to determine the LP tank size and location.
    • Load estimates will bne taken to determine the size of the generator needed.

 

 


  • Stage Two

    • All permits for building, Fire Marshall, zoning, health and electrical will be applied for including, tank, generator, etc.
    • Scheduling for tank placement will be done
    • Tanks may be buried or above ground, either may require excavation for buried piping

 

 


  • Stage Three

    • Tanks and generator will be delivered and set in place
    • Propane lines will be piped and run the required locations.
    • All propane lines will be pressure tested and inspected by the town official.

 

 


  • Stage Four

      • The approved gas piping will be connected to the tank and generator

 


  • Stage Five

    • The electrician will install the automatic transfer switch, required modules and final connections you the generator
    • The electrician will power up the generator, simulate a power outage and review the required annual maintenance with the homeowner
